newbie here seeking information RNY hopeful

Hello all my name is Gypsy and I am seeking information and prayers. I go for a big group meeting with my Dr and his staff on July 19th.I am hoping I meet the criteria. I have truely lost the weight battle temporarily. I have been on Weight watchers since 8 and failed it miserablly .I have literally taken EVERY weight loss drug on the market. I lost 100lbs on Redux(kept it off for 7 years),unfortunately I was taken off Redux a few years ago. I was put on Merida but it really did not help me , I gained the weight back .I am praying so hard that that I qualify for RNY.It twould be such a blessing and a great tool to get and stay fit.I also offer up prayers and support to each one of you going through this. It will be great to have buddies.I look forward to knowing each of you.I have so many questions...Thanks in advance for info, Gypsyheart

My name is Kenya. I had Lap RNY on 4/19 and while technically I am a newbie, I'd be happy to answer whatever I can. As for this forum, it is a wonderful place and there are lots of helpful people here that can and will answer whatever questions you have. So...sit back, relax, and ask away!

OH!!! I can SOOOO relate....I've done sooo many things! From Nutri-System to Fen Phen.....(with a little Weight Watchers in between....and the most I've lost is 120#'s)

I don't know your stats....but I too prayed and prayed for the approval to have the WLS....you are right....it is an amazing tool...and a blessing!!

Femme, thak you so much for the welcome. It is so hard to speak of my stats. I am 5'6' and weigh 226 and gaining no matter what I try to do.I am really afraid of what will happen if I do not qualify for the surgery.Thanks for the welcome. Blessings Gypsy

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Good luck with your scheduled surgeon's information meeting.
As for meeting the criteria, it's your insurance criteria, not the surgeon's, so the first thing you need to do is to confirm if your particular insurance policy covers the surgery, and what conditions they set for approval.

Gypsy,
There sure are lol! if you go to the top and hit search and type my name in they will all come up. I think most of them fall under the stupid questions category lol
