Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I am so glad I found you guys!!! What a great and encouraging site! I am just a few days away from RNY and am pretty immersed in finding any info I can get my eyes on! I know quite a few people who have had this done, I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly - mostly good might I add - and am finally at the doorstep of my new start. It's been a self discovery journey for me with several steps to becoming the person I want to be. Although I'm a bit nervous about the surgery part I am anxiously awaiting my 3rd "birthday" (the first is obvious, the second is spiritual, and here we go....) I must say I am looking forward to a few things! I want to ride a horse - no one over 250 according to Disney guidelines - now, I ask you, didn't Hoss Cartwright ride a horse in Bonanza? I'd dare say he was not under 250! I'd also like to ride a roller coaster again - safety harnesses dont fit! And buy some cute clothes! When did I turn into an egg shaped human exactly? Does anyone know where I can find a really pretty robe? I found some gorgeous Oscar DeLaRenta in my future size but I wish I had one at this size! I'd love to hear from anyone with any advice - especially things you wish someone had told you at this stage. It's funny the quirky things no one thinks to put in those handy doctor's packets. Have a great day!

HI WELCOME to the site and im also glad you found us just before your surgery date. ITs a great place to come for information, support and makeing friends with people that understand this journey very well . As far as a robe, honestly i had to many hookups in the hosptiol to wear any robes i had to just be in the hospitol gowns...one in each direction due to all that stuff just like i wasnt allowed my own nighties on. I really didnt mind i sooo overheated half the time proly just a side effect from the pain meds......and it was the first heat wave of the season when i had my surgery and i think the hospitol didnt have the ac running well yet in the patient rooms. ANYWAY how exciting and were here for any questions. I do strongly suggest you pack some LIP balm of some sort for your hospitol stay. AND i look forward to getting to know you thru your posts

Hi. Welcome!!!!! I too was not allowed to wear my own nighties or robes. I couldnt even wear my own socks. Everything was hospital issued I guess for safety? Dont worry about robes and stuff like that. You're gonna be tired, groggy, unable to shower good luck on your journey. |

Hi and welcome! I too am pre surgery. My date isn't til July 30th. I'm glad that you found this site BEFORE your surgery. There are other sections that are very helpful with information and if you go to the section about preparing for surgery, many of your questions will be answered. It will be fun to chart your progress and read your threads as you will be a few weeks ahead of me. Good luck! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi and welcome to the board. It is awesome. Your surgery date is my 2 week followup date with my Dr. I am so thankful right now that all went so well. I will tell you that for some unknown reason about 3 or 4 days before surgery, I had the most amazing calmness come over me and it stayed with me. Like a quiet serenity. It baffled me but I did not question it. I think it was God telling me "It's all going to be OK and you are doing the right thing." Even the morning of surgery I got up and took a shower, washed my hair, put on my clothes and trekked to the hospital at 5:30 a.m. Still no nerves. I really think that had a lot to do with how I felt when I came out of surgery and how well I have done. I never had what I call real pain like when I had sciatica nerve damage or sprained my ankle. Just a little discomfort. So I am very thankful and I wish you well and I hope you continue to come to the board and we can share our journey together. Mattie |

Welcome to the boards. You know, to be completely honest, once I joined this AWESOME site, there wasn't one question I had that went unanswered. Everyone here was more than willing to give whatever I needed....support, support with the pre gitters, tips on what to do or what not to do, etc. I cannot say enough about the people here. Everyone here, for the most part, has been where you are, and know all the feelings that go with it. You will do a great job with everything, because you have found the ULTIMATE site to stop at. BELIEVE ME! Ask anything you want, clancy. We will be her to answer anything you have to ask. |
