Welcome to the boards. Well, to a certain degree, I do know what you are talking about. I started out on August 1st, 2006, with open incision RNY. I was at that time, 247#. At New Year's Day....give or take a few days.....I had lost a total of 107#. I couldn't believe that the weight could have came off that fast, but it did. I was very comfy at that weight simply because it was 40# pounds under what my goal weight was. I was a real Carb Nazi though. Absolutely nothing that was even remotely "bad" for me. Then, at one point shortly after that, I slipped down to 135#. In a way, I was lovin' it, but in a way, I was starting to view myself as skin and bone. I literally was getting there. People, including the wife, would tell me that I was getting too thin, but at the time, I didn't care. Something clicked for me one day. I thought to myself, stop and take a look at yourself, and how far you have come. I felt at that point, I was becoming too into losing the weight....so to speak. I started having a sweet every now and then, and did exactly what you are doing......increasing some carbs into my diet. They were not as good as your fruit smoothies though. lol I do think I needed to do that though, and I don't really regret it. I think I was heading down a not so good path. I went back up to 140#. It was hard for me to see that scale go the other way, and that to me, was a clue I was going down a different kind of path. I struggled with that ALOT. I currently today at 11 months out, do weightlifting everyday, and have put on even more. Just a few mind you. lol I attribute that to muscle mass though. Looking at the other pics of me when I was in the 130's. I was a bit too thin. I love myself now more than I ever have. As people have told me. Before, I looked scary thin, now I look healthy thin. lol Makes pretty good sense to me. Amy, I am not saying by any means, that you are in some sort of trouble or anything. Honest I just wanted to share a similar story with you, and what I did to correct it. I do know the feeling of slipping under. Gosh, imagine that....talking about being under what we should be. LOL LOL LOL You would never have heard that out of people like us in years past. I think you have done a SUPER job with your weightloss though. You should be very proud of yourself, and I hope to get to know you better through all of your posts. |

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. Congratulations on your weight loss, you have done a wonderful job. As for losing too much, part of why is probably because somewhere in your mind is the fear that you will gain back all you have lost if you increase your food intake in anyway, even if it is for health. There are ways to cheat your pouch, sure, but bascially, if you keep to the eating plan your surgeon instructs you to, then you should do fine. For one thing, you know you won't be able to get in at one sitting as much as you were able to pre op. So, if you make the right choices with your food, there's not need to fear going back to where you are. Journalize, keep your calorie intake intact, and also as mike says, exercise and build your muscles if you aren't too keen on exercise. Another point is, most people regain around 20lbs after hitting their lowest point, and that usually is the final place the weight settles. So, it may just be that you are at your lowest right now, and your weight will go up just a little and then stay there. In any case, ((((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.
