I was looking up information online last night and found this forum. After having read some of the threads, I decided to sign up because everyone seemed so friendly. My surgery (RNY) was in December of 2005, and I have gone from 262 pounds to 130 pounds. I had been a "chubby" child who ballooned to 262lbs while in an abusive marriage. I was wise enough and loved myself enough to leave that relationship in 2004. In fact, I just married a wonderful man May 2007, and he treats me like a princess. He didn't marry me because of my weight loss because he knew me through the whole process. He loves me and is very proud of the work and efforts that I have put into making the life changes that I need in order to lose weight and live a long/healthy life. Basically I have had no real problems since my surgery except a gallbladder removal last September and difficulty in keeping my weight at a decent level. Has anyone else had trouble not losing too much weight? A few months back I was down to 126lbs and I'm 5'6". My surgeon told me to increase my calories which I did through protein/fruit smoothies for my "snacks". Some weeks, when I weigh myself, I slip back into the 120's but I'd like to stay at 130-135lbs. It may not seem like much weight to be worried about, but it really does show and not look healthy when I get so thin. Any advice out there? Anyone else in the same situation? Thanks!! Amy

Hi Amy. Congratulations on taking care of YOU. Seems the rest took care of itself when you focused on what you needed. I can't help you with losing too much because I haven't had my surgery yet. I can only say that if you journal what you eat, you may find out what it is you aren't getting when you drop a few pounds. Welcome to the site and hope to see you often. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi! My primary care doctor did mention that this does sometimes happen and that, rarely, she has heard of patients needing surgery to prevent them from becoming "unhealthy thin". Most of the people I have encountered are still in the process of losing. At least it sounds like you have it under control ~ that's a plus! Best wishes

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am quite excited about the forums and look forward to getting to know all of you. I like the idea of journaling my food to monitor what I eat, and I think I'll try it over the next week or so. Take care, Amy
