Default An official hello

So, my name is Kim and I'll be turning 41 this month. I am married to an also obese but truly wonderful man and we have two adopted sons, ages 11 and 7 and six kitty children as well.

I have battled weight my entire life, losing, then gaining over and over again. At my last weigh in about a month ago, before I again fell off the diet bandwagon, I weighed about 290...and that was down from 310 about six months ago. I know I've put some of it back on after a few extremely busy and stressful weeks but so far I have not been brave enough to get back on the scale. I'm just so weary of all of this and I desperately want to live the second part of my life as a smaller, healthier person.

I am just in the researching stages at this time and I found this website last night. The thought of surgery terrifies me and the thought of being fat for the rest of my life scares me to death as well. I've always struggled with anything that didn't feel natural to me, and WLS doesn't feel natural...but being this overweight sucks.

In my spare time, I love to sing, write, fly across a lake on our boat, read and knit. I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Weclome to the board, thank you for joning us.
Yes, there are upsides and downsides with this surgery.
Just as there are upsides and downsides with anything and everything in life.
What's most important is that you are armed with good knowledge, knowledge that is true to facts and not relying on hear-say, and understanding all the pros and cons. Then, I imagine, things will fall into place for you, whether to work hard the conventional way, or to get this TOOL--yes, this surgery is only a tool--to get you going on your way.
It's best that you research what lifestyle changes you need to make--and these changes will be drastic, and if you are up to it. As a matter of fact, what is most important is not your fear of going under the knife, but of your willingness and determination to change your food habits and lifestyle for good.
So, do a lot of search and research, both here and at other sites.
Talk personally to post ops and surgeons if you can.
Then, armed with a wealth of knowledge, you'll be able to make the choice that is best for you, and if you do decide to go for the surgery, then you'd have done most of your homework by the time you seriously start looking for the surgeon and hospital to go to.

((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.
