Default Hello!!!

Hi! My name is Cathy. I am a 37yo mother of 1b & 1 g, 5yo & 10yo respectivly! I attended an informational seminar on July 3 and have found out that my insurance will cover 90% if I meet the criteria for it. The program is retreiving my records and will let me know as soon as they recieve them.
I just want to let everyone know, like many of you probably have, I have spent 3 years contemplating this. I hope to have the laproscopic Roux en Y GBP. I was looking at the less invasive Lap Band, but after my seminar, I do not feel that this will give me the results that I desire.
I currently weight 348lbs and look to weigh 150lbs in the next 2 - 3 years (hopefully sooner ).
I have decided to have the surgery because I am no longer able to walk or play with my kids & breathe. I also have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri which is putting pressure on my optic nerves and causing them to swell. I have lost some periphrial vision due to this. I also jsut completed a sleep study at the beginning of June and was found to have Sleep Apnea due to my weight. I have a family history of Diabetes and just completed a glucose tolerance test - THANK GOD I do not have Diabetes at this time.
On June 27th I just celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary!!! Yahooooo!! (sadly, there are not many anymore who can say that.)
Anyway, that is about it for me for now. I look forward to reading & hearing more about WLS on this site.
Be Blessed my new Friends!!
Cat

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Default Hello MrsKitty!

Welcome aboard. We all hear ya all to well with the problems associated with being heavy. For alot of us, it was a struggle just to get through each and every day. Not being able to play with the kids is very hard on a person. I know, being the proud dad of 4. It seems like you have done your homework with researching things about the surgery though, and that is very good. In the end, you said it, you have to do what you think will be best for you. Your surgeon, I am sure will help you make the decision a bit easier as well. I had open indision RNY, and really don't regret having it done that way at all. Sure, the recovery was a bit harder, but the rewards of having the surgery at all, were far greater. Good luck with your journey. It is a very exciting one, and one we all here, will hope that you will share with us every step of the way. Hope that we can get to know you better through your posts. mike
