Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass   |  Happy to have found this website Hello all: I am new and I have really enjoyed reading all the postings on here. I am not sure when I will have my surgery but I go to my last class on July 20th and I will see from there. I decided to have the Gastric Bypass mainly because a very close friend of mine died this past December from a heart attack from being over weight. That was a wake up call for me. If nothing else scared me that did. I want to see my kids grow up and I won't be able to do that with all this weight on me. I stand only 4'10 and now I weigh 234 pounds. That is way too much for my height. I am scared but I know it will be for the best. I will continue to check in here and let you all know how things are going and I wish you all well and keep up the good work. I know it is hard road ahead but in the end I know it will be all worth it.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Welcome!!! (((HUGE HUGS)))  My wake up call was similar to yours. My Aunt Christina died in her bed at the young age of 57. Her heart simply gave out due to years of obesity. I sit here still mourning the loss of such a wonderful, loving, and sweet woman. When she died, I was 38 years old with a 2 year old at home. I did the math...if I died in 19 years at the age of 57....I'd never see my little one grow up and into a woman with children of her own. I'd miss out on my grandchildren, etc. So, I began my journey. It was well worth the risks, hard work, and dedication. I even love myself more than ever. I know you'll do great, and this forum is filled with loving, wonderful people who can support you all the way. Please keep on posting, and we'll all be there for you!!! Take care, Amy

Everyone I have talked to about this in person always have so much negative things to say. They don't understand the struggle with trying to loose the weight and only to have regained what I have lost, plus more. Having said all that I am in love with this site. Amy I totally understand about still thinking of your love one. My friend was only 37 years old and left behind 4 young boys. Their mother died in a fire 5 years prior and now they don't have a father either. I miss my friend dearly and I know he is in heaven smiling on me because I have decided to live my life the right way. I know this is going to be a long hard journey but it's worth every minute of it. All the ups and downs is what life is about and it will only make me stronger. Thanks again
