| No Energy
Hi All,
As you know, I am like 2 weeks postop. Im really concerned because I have no energy at all. I have to take 3 or 4 naps a day, I cant shave without having to take a break. Showers wear me out as well.
I am taking my vitamins, but, they dont seem to do anything for me.
Is it normal to have so little energy?

Keith, you had a really really rough time. Expect your recovery to be slower than others.
That said, I think a lot of post ops experience lack of energy for 4-6 weeks or so, thought the degree varies.
How are your intake issues coming along?
Have you been able to up your liquids and such?

I agree with doc. Your body has gone through so much and is in the process of healing. That takes alot of energy to do so. I did start to feel very tired at one point about a month post op and that worried me a bit however once the energy came back, it was no stopping me....Just take it easy and let the body work. Make sure your drinking what you can and trying to keep your intake up. Your body is in a starvation mode and is also adjusting to that as well as healing. In no time you will be a new man! Just hang in there and keep positive. Your doing great!

JUST be certain that your getting those sips in all day!
I concern personally with so much nappin that you
might be slackin on something very important getting
liquids in. THESE early days its very important. DEHYDRATION
will cause an unusual amount of tiredness as well. My doctor
encouraged me not to stay in bed and sleep alot so i followed
his instructions when i was discharged. YOU went thru alot
so healing might be rougher. BUT i must ask how much liquids
are you manageing to get down????
I also feel if you feel this isnt the normal get your doctor
in the loop of how your feeling. DONT forget to get some
tiny walks in. IF its too hot outside walk from end to
end of your home......

Keith goodness gracious you are in a huge hurry!...your body just took a very hard beating and it's gonna take a longer time to get energy back. I know you are very frustrated and the one thing you gotta look at is right now is RESTING/RECOVERY time..don't expect so much from youself hon.
hang in there..one day you'll wake up and it'll be like a light suddenly went on with your body and you'll have that energy back.
healing takes TIME...otherwise you'll be right back in the hospital if you push hard right now...Use this time to heal

Keith, I agree with Doc. Take your time and rest and then you will begin to feel better. Take care.

Keith I agree with everyone else. Your body make take longer than others due to what you have been through. But as you work yourself up to more protein in your diet for you right now liquid form. It will help with the energy.
