Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hello, I am new to this site. My name is Jill and I am scheduled for my surgery on August 14th. I've read a lot on the surgery, so I feel as if I know it from an academic viewpoint, but I am interested in hearing your stories, suggestions, hints, tips, etc... My first question to all out there is how to get through those two weeks prior to surgery when I'll be on the liquid only fast!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thanks for the welcome. I'm reading the other posts and it is so helpful. I just visited the bariatriceating.com site and got overwhelmed with all the choices. Hopefully someone out there can comment on what is good and what is not.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I had to do the liquied diet for 2 weeks. I survived on sugar free fudgesicles, and creamy chicken soup and blended vegetable soup. I also ate popsicles a lot. Best of luck to you! Feel free to ask tons of questions. And welcome to the board

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | HI! JUST wanted to welcome you to the forums.. AND i look forward to getting to know you thru your posts! AS for a liquid preop diet. EVERY surgeon has different protocal pre op. I didnt have to do a liquid pre op diet but my surgeon requires a pre op weight loss of 10 percent for his patients which can be difficult but i did it being i wanted this surgery so bad. HANG in there you will get thru it ... the first 4 days will be the hardest but once your cravings and urges are gone you will feel better. YOU may experience headaches, body aches, tireds and moodieness but it will ease up. GOOD LUCK and do come and vent if you find yourself struggling.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Welcome to the board Jill. I think you will enjoy coming and reading our threads. I too did not have to do liquids but I did go on a low carb diet to help shrink my liver and I did do it. It helps the surgeon with the surgery as it is in the way a bit and if you can shrink it some, it helps them and my Dr. even told me thank you for doing it. Hope to see you around and Good luck with your surgery. Mattie |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | WELCOME JILL!!! I didn't do the preop diet and have about 10 - 15 extra lbs to lose because of it. It's a wise thing your doc is having you do! So I can't offer you any suggestions for the liquid pre diet. I wish you much luck on your pre op diet and your surgery though!
