Default Support? Need it. If left to my own devices...

OK, I'll admit it. Maybe my words say no, no no. But my actions say yes, yes, yes. Could explain why a tall big California girl ended up with a Singaporean husband and 2 (BEAUTIFUL AND SMARTER THAN I) kids...nevertheless.

I slogged off to the local support group meeting, son in tow as he was supposed to watch any anklebiters; took me 50 min. each way. Only 1 person showed, none of the organizers. I had posted earlier that if people weren't going to show because of the holidays, let me know, because it is a trek and we all have things to do.

But you know what? 2 people makes a meeting. I really enjoyed getting to know more about Susan one on one. And I feel good that I did what is right for me....no poor me, I am a victim of food, I'll do better as of Jan. 1! F that stuff! I might be dead my NY! Just saw my Dad watching and cursing a Redskins game, dead the next. My life , my only life as far as I know, is NOW! Not 2 weeks, 1 weeks 4 days 'til Christmas, but NOW!!!

Vicki

PS... you are going to get so sick of my "preaching", but I do it for myself more than you. I'm a slack
er. Need to keep yanking myself back on track. In my mind, I am 18, great tanned bikini bod on a tropical beach, single, with a Margarita in hand! Maybe a little disjoint with reality there? LOL gotta love it!!!

Sigh.. that was fun. Gotta go feed the dogs and make dinner.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Fortunately I have been able to attend meetings all over the world. Every time though as I go to a meeting in another city, I find myself really praying that at least one person show up. I have this fear that if I show up and the door is locked that I will say screw it, and head out on some really unhealthy behavior.

By the grace of God, not a single locked door since '97.

Now what I have learned from this also is that I am not alone in this thinking. Some person from a far away place is really praying that the door won't be locked here. Hence, my motivation for making local meetings. I don't want my laziness to cause a door to be locked.

Default Two people

I have gotten up at 5 am, put on half-assed make-up, done my hair, opened the doors, made the coffee and no one showed. Clock ticked 6 and I siad to hell with it. Read the preamble. perused the daily reminder and the book. Some soory =assesed gut, stringy, greasy hair, stunk to high heave showed up about 6:30. Must have been desperate. I've been there.

That's why i hate it when people say, oh, I am just a lurker. I am NOT here to entertain people! You lurkers never know if what you have to say might change someone's perspective. I sat in the cold at 6am...you can punch a few keys.

I don't have the luxury of a support meeting so that is one reason I continue to visit any message board that might be able to help me in my journey since WLS.

I say thank God for anyone who is willing to sit in the cold at 6am because one person "might" just show up for a meeting.

I am in the same boat here. Not able to attend a support group so I need the online support. I am so greatful someone sent me to this group as I know this is the place I can come to find help and understanding that my family is not able to provide. I would sit in the cold waiting for someone to show up to as I want to be able to help others in this quest.

I am in Michigan and it isn't that there isn't a meeting here. It is that my boss schedules me to work on Monday as the other two can't work and they seem to have better reasons according to her not to work. I am really glad I found this group as I have joined others where noone posts and the support is not there.

Yeah, that is a hard deal. Here most of the support groups seem to be on the last Tuesday of the month. Do you have any other friends in Michigan that have had the surgery? That would probably help some. As they said earlier, two people make a support group. I have been so incredibly blessed with wonderful women here to help me on this path. I am still hoping that they come to the board eventually so that you can all get to know them and how great they are.
