Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

These are really questions you should get answers to from your surgeon. Everyone is different, we heal differently.

the only one i would dare answer is the water thing. ive never gotten "sick" off it. Ive had too much at once and made myself uncomfortable but thats about it. if its making you sick you need to contact your dr.

as for the rest, all questions for someone in themedical field familiar with your case. as mentioned previously, we are all different and heal differently.

Do not rely on hormonal methods, in other words, pills. You should use other non-hormonal methods such as IUD. The reason is that while you are losing weight, the fat in your body will release a lot of estrogen--female hormones--which will render pills ineffective. Keep in mind, it is best for you to avoid pregnancy for at least 18-24 months, until your weight has stabilized, and your new eating habits are secure.

3. Has anyone gotten sick from drinking water?
There is such a thing as water poisoning, but unless you are drinking more than 100 oz water per day, I wouldn't worry about it.
There are certain conditions that water makes worse, like renal (kidney) disfunction and chronic heart failure, but I imagine you don't have these conditions--if you did, you would have had to be treated for that before your surgeon wend ahead with your surgery--so there should be no concern there, either.

At least 3-6 months, though where within that range depends on the surgeon.

In any case, check through all the info that you have been given from your surgeon, and if you can't find the answers there, call your surgeon and ask.

This Q was asked because Tina's job entails lifting 80lbs multiple times a day.
With that kind of stuff, you need to get a release from your surgeon, because if it's done too early, it can cause hernias and stuff. It's not a matter of if you feel you can lift something that heavy, it's a matter of whether your inner scars are all healed, and your insides have regained its strength to withstand such pressure. Since it takes 3-4 months for the healing to be completed, the time widow is 3-6 months, depending on the surgeon.

Thank you for asking the contraception and sex question. For someone who is contemplating having this surgery done, these are the type of questions I want to hear real life experience answer from, ie the variables......not just the surgeons opinion.

I am almost 3 months out and yesterday I lifted a box weighing about 25 lbs and I felt it. It didn't hurt bad but I definitely had a twinge in the midsection. Be very very careful with the lifting.

I just wanted to chime in on the water question:

YES i have thrown up from water post op. USUALLY the reason is i took a drink too soon after the meal and wound up tossing it all up. I have learned
its important to wait but sometimes i just get a bad urge and need a little after the meal and vomitted the entire water and meal up.

BUT normal between meal water never made me sick and if anyone had a symptom like that i would run it by their doctor.

AS for the lifting a box...well u know i had surgery june 1 2005. In that august i remember floating on a hot day and decided to lay belly down on a hard surf board (boogie board of my kids) and man did that hurt.
SO i know for many months post op we are still healing....so be careful what you life i dont want you to get a hernia!
