Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | First I want to say hello to everyone. And I have been reading around on the forums for a few days and the people here have already made me feel more confident that the choice I have made to finally get this surgery will turn out ok as long as I keep the right frame of mind. My health has been getting worse since I had my last child at the age of 40 she is my third and sadly last. I in the last five years have lost my thyroid and regained 115 plus pounds that I worked so had to take off (again) and kept it off for over 3 years this time. I have developed type 2 diabetes, I need a hip replacement as well and I have had problems with my feet for the past year. And along with a few other problems I also had a breast biopsy this year that was so posed to not be anything to worry about and well that lump wasn't but they found DCIS breast cancer under the lump. Yes I am so very lucky that they caught it at this early stage and I had another surgery this year as well to be sure they got it all the first time. Which they think they did but I have started cancer meds that I have to take for five years. I have tried off and on for the past year to get back to deep water aerobics which I have had 4 six weeks sessions this year but I had to miss some here and there because of the surgeries and the last few were because of my feet and I couldn't walk let alone run in the water. But my feet are healing and I will be more careful with them when I go back to my aerobics in September. I will do those darn classes if it kills me. And over the past months I have looked at getting this surgery as giving up that if I can't do this on my own then I am not strong enough and don't deserve it. I looked at the surgery as cheating I guess. But for the sake of my younger daughter who is only 6 I need to try what ever I can to be sure I am here for her. (I have two grown children as well) My husband is still kind of against the surgery. God love him he doesn't care that I am heavy he loves me anyway. And is scared I guess that I will die during or after this surgery. But I have tried to tell him I wont live very long at this rate and I can't stand not being able to do things for myself and not being able to do even little things like I did before. I want my life back in general and I see here that the people that have gone down this road are happy with what they have chosen and have given me a lot of things to think about as well. I hope to be a member of this site for a long time to come and am looking forward to having some where to go to talk about all the things that only you here can understand. I have started some of my clearance tests and I go to see the cardio dr tomorrow. I am glad that the weight management center where I am going for this has such a detailed process. Before during and after but they still don't give you a place at three am to come and say hay how are you I cant sleep lol...Well this is long enough and I can ramble as I am sure you have already learned...

| Super Moderator | Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. Looking forward to seeing you around. You have a lot on your plate, but I'm sure you'll be able to make the right choice for you. As for your husband, why not ask him to come along with you to all the info seminars, and the meetings you have with your drs. That way, he'll be in the loop, and be able to ask directly the Qs that bother him. It also tells him you care about him enough to want him by your side through every step. ((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.

I decided to have wls because of health issues also that were going to shorten my life greatly. I am only 3 weeks out of surgery and allready cutting way back on insulin.
