Red face How many has had open surgery?

I go for surgery on the 27th and i will be having open. My Dr. prefers to do it that way. He said i will be there for three days. I just wanted to know how you feel after open. How did you feel when you came home?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i forgot to mention that he likes doing it that way because he likes to take out the gullbladder too, because loosing weight so fast alot of people have problems with it. the surgery is a center of excellence. He has been doing open for more than 20 years and he has had it himself.

I had open rny on 6/18/07 and was in the hospital 3 days. The first few days were pretty rough with pain and discomfort, but I knew how much I wanted the surgery so I could deal with it knowing what perks were in store down the road.

I was fortunate that I am had the summer off (I'm a teacher) so running back to work was not an issue for me. I have recovered well and am completely happy with my decission to work with my surgeon and have the procedure open.

Once I was home I was quite self sufficient, could walk, shower and prepare my own meals. I slept in my own bed and could periodically go out for short periods of time. I felt that the recovery was much better than I expected it to be.

From what I understand open surgery recovery is a little more painful than lap and requires a bit more recovery time, but I only have my experience. I am so happy with my decision and my medical team.

We're all pulling for you! Good luck and congratulations!

Amy

I didn't have open but my hubby did. He had no complications and there are reasons for them. I am so "petite" that my doc couldn't promise me a lap so I went into surgery with a wait and see attitude. BUT THAT GENIUS did it. Either way I would have been happy. I'm sure everything will be great. Good luck to you.

Wedny, just curious, you said your hubby had the surgery too. Did you do it at the same time or did he have his first. What a great support system with both of you doing it.

He had his done 4 years ago. I wanted to have it myself but something was stopping me. Not the actually surgery but being put under. So I waited a bit and studied more on the subject. Yes it make a big difference in the way of support. He has been so successful with his and he is encouraging me to follow in his footsteps.

Well I am just going to put it out there. I'm not a midget, but sure feel like one somedays.. I'm just under 4'10". I mentioned in another post that I am married to a man who is 6'1". The doc said he was sweating during the surgery because it was like operating on a child. I am VERY short waisted. But he was able to do it and I have had no complications.. KNOCK ON WOOD!
