Hi all,

I've read a couple threads in regards to pregnancy after the surgery, but I'm curious is there anyone on the site that has gotten pregnant after the surgery or knows someone who has? It is so important for me to be able to have another baby and I want to make sure I can carry them healthy. I'm debating if I should wait to have the surgery after I have another child or have the surgery and then have another baby. I would really like to be able to have a cute little prego belly for my next one!!! But the health of the child far exceeds that!!!! Any advice?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I have a friend who is currently pregnant with her 1st baby. She is 2.5 years post op and her baby is just fine, and she has that cute little prego belly!

Thanks for that link!! What a beautiful boy he is!! That makes me feel much better. My surgeon told me I would be able to still have kids, I just want a little reassurance from those that have experienced it first hand ya know!!!!

i would say this. i always said if i had another child i would be in tip top shape because my pregnancy with my daghter was NOT fun. i went into it heavy, developed pre-eclampsia, was on bedrest for months and she was delivered by emergency c-section 6 weeks early. she came out fine, but i wouldnt want to do it that way again if i had a choice. so here i am 4 months post op bypass. MAYBE if i meet someone worth while in the years to come, i will have the opportunity to have a happier, healthier, and safer pregnancy.
ultimately its for you to decide. depends alot on your present medical conditions, if any.

I Was In The Same Situation As You. I Didnt Know If I Should Have A Baby First Or The Surgery And Then I Went For A Physical And Asked The Docs Opinion. There Was No Doubt About It He Wanted Me To Lose Wt First For The Health Of Me And The Baby. My First Pregnancy Was Not Fun And Uncomfortable. I Think You Should Ask Your Pcp Opinion. Thats What I Did.

I Did The Surgery On 7/16 And Will Wait 12-18 Months Till I Can Get Prego Again And Its Worth The Wait Especially For The Health Of Me And Baby

I was lucky. I was at my heaviest when I got pregnant with my son but I was super careful and actually lost weight while I was pregnant because I was so cautious with everything, so I was blessed with healthy pregnancy and a healthy son too. My doctors were definately concerned with my weight when I got pregnant but I was lucky enough to not have any complications. I think I would like to wait until after the surgery, just because I want to space out my kids, and I want to be much healthier for my second one if I can help it!!! My little boy turns 1 tomorrow!!! I cant believe how quickly it has gone by!!! This way if I get the surgery within the next 6 months my kids will just be 2-3 yrs apart. Not too bad!!!

Trust Me You Were Lucky With The First But Might Not Be With The Second. Dont Take The Chance. I Also Lost 30 Lbs When I Was Prego Cause I Was Careful And Had Gestational Diabetes. My Daughter Also Just Turned 1 And My Biological Clock Is Ticking So For Me To Do The Surgery First Means I Dont Want To Take The Chance With The 2nd Pregnancy. Plus You Will Be Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay More Fertile Once You Lose The Wt.

I Think You Are Def Making The Right Choice To Wait And Do The Surgery First. Your And Your Baby's Life Is To Prescious To Take The Chance

I agree Edie!! Plus I dont want to go through the embarrassing stuff again like the doctor strapping the "larger belts" around my tummy and really having to push around to find the baby since my tummy wasnt all that noticeabley pregnant because of my size. Or having extra ultrasounds to see how big the baby was since my chubs got in the way! It sucked.
