Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Lifes a Dance,

You are already on the solid food? That was only about 2 weeks ago...lucky you! I am still in the soft food stage and almost a month out. There are alot of really good recipes that have been posted in the threads. I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

Lifesadance: WELCOME!!!
easy there. you are very early still. dont cry (unless you're happy LOL). dont be upset and dont worry about recipes just yet. the first few weeks you should concentrate on getting the fluids. at least 64 ozs. everything else will come into play later on. dehydration will cause depression.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench.

First, what type surgery did you have, and what are your surgeons instructions concerning your food stage, and protein and liquid intake.
With fluids, if you are trying to gulp down as you did pre-op, you are going to have a hard time with it, remember to sip sip sip continuously, but never eat and drink at the same time.

((((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

P.S. I have split the original thread this was first posted, and started an individual thread for you.

Don't cry honey, we all have REALLY BAD days, stretches, months......

Make sure you get lots and lots and lots of water. If you can't stand a lot of water, crystal light, sugar free freeze pops, sugar free jello.... Just make sure you stop/start liquids 20-30 minutes before or after eating. Don't want to make the pouchy grouchy.

I would if you feel really dried out and you're tired of constantly slugging water, try one of the sugar free ice pops. They're nice and refreshing. Good luck! You're doing great, you're not even a month out yet and you're losing wonderfully!!!!

Hi and welcome. I'm still pre-op so what do I know? But I am concerned that you are on solid food already if you had RNY. Or did you have the band? With RNy you don't want to stress the staples by eating solids and should be doing very soft foods or foods that have been mixed in the blender. We need to know what type of surgery you had to give you the right advice.

Most surgeons require we eat 60 - 70 grams of protein so there's lots of threads here on protein drinks. Meats, eggs, beans and cheese are your best sources of protein naturally.

Lots of threads on vitamins and other supplements and what can happen if you don't take them.

Rule no one - no fluids 30 minutes before and 30 minuts after a meal!

Hope that helps a little.

Default Welcome!

Welcome to the boards! I had my surgery August 14th, so we're real close in dates. Did you have laproscopic or open RNY? I'm on soft foods and have been trying different things each day. Today I tried some well cooked button mushrooms, they were good. As for drinking, yes, you have to keep sipping that water. I also like crystal light -- my favorite is the White Tea with Blueberries -- its so good! I've kinda left jello & soup behind because I had to eat so much of it in my pre-op diet I got burned out on it. But I'm finding so many things to add to my diet, its been really good. Don't forget any milk, or other types of liquids like protein drinks counts as your liquid intake too. Just take it one day at a time! This is the right place to be -- lots of great advice and friendship!
