Thumbs up September 10, began a new life

I am a newbe to this site and I like this site, it is interesting and helpful.
I had my gastric bypass surgery on Setember 10, 2007. I started to loss weight on June 11 and I lost 35 pounds on the day of my surgery, the doctor said the surgery would be easier on me if I lost some weight and I did loss 35 pounds in just 3 months. I was on the optifast protein drinks and lots of veg. I sure became creative with my veg. and really enjoyed the veg. It was difficult cooking food for my husband but I was so focused
on my surgery. I was so tired of being so overweight and was having lots of health problems, Highblood pressure, high colestral levels, my blood sugar was at the boarderline, Gout in my feet and thyroid probelms,my back, angles and knees hurt and just could not do the things I want to do. It was a long road to get to my surgery, I started in Febuary with all the meetings and was scheduled to have my surgery on August 6th, but for being much safer with my surgery the doctor wanted me to loss more weight and I worked so hard at it and i did it and had my surgery on September 10th. I call september 10th my birthday of my new life. I have so much wonderful support from my family and they are all proud that I have done the surgery for my own health. Once I have the weight off I want to take my grandkids to the Zoo and I want to walk all around the zoo and not ride anything around the zoo. I love to garden and it will be so nice not to tire out and get so exshausted next year gardening. Right now I am on the soft food stage and does anyone have ideas for soft foods. I have to be on the soft food stage for 3 months. I started a few days early with the soft food stage, becasue I just could not handle the food trays the hospitol gives out anymore. I started with tuna and it sure agrees with me really good and am going to try the egg salad tomarrow. I was wondering did anyone have trouble with the opifast, after surgery protein drinks. I cannot drink them becasue my little tummy hurt so bad from them, every time I took a swallow. I am drinking the protein drinks that I ordered and with light soymilk, and that agrees with me real good. I really struggle getting my water down. The first day I only got one cup of water down and the second I got two cups and today I got four cups of water down me. Getting better everyday. My children are all 3 grown up and they have never seen me thin. My youngest son said to me, that he is excited to see a thin mom.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench.
((((HUGS)))) May your journey go well.

Most people have trouble with protein drinks post op, and a lot of other stuff due to the change in taste that often happens. What you can eat post op is going to be a lot of trial and error.
Take a look through Vitamins and Nutrition section as well as the maind Diet forum.
Stupid Questions is another place for you to look for some stuff.

P.S. I am moving this to Your Profile since this is your first post and self introductory.
I'm sure you'll get a lot of welcomes.

welcome! glad you found us.
i didnt have much trouble. i mean i tried a few things but didnt like the taste at all. i finally settled on isopure low carb vanilla and unjury. unjury sits the best for me but has to be ordered online. they also have smaller smaple packets so you can try different flavors without getting the whole tub. Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage
