My name is Donna. I had the gastric bypass surgery done about one and a half years ago. I am getting ready to go through the plastic surgery to get my excess skin removed. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Donna, welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
I hope you find this place informative and fun.
First off, I have taken th liberty of moving your posts here, since the subject is out of place in the thread where these were first posted.
I hope you won't mind, you're likely to get more reactions here.
As for plastics, there's an entire forum on it, have you checked it out? http://www.renewedreflections.com/fo...astric-bypass/
Unfortunately for you, most of the post ops here are not out long enough to be considering plastics in the immediate future, but I do hope you'll find some useful info, anyway.
You might also try the Weighloss Insurance book that CraigT, the host of this site has written.
((((((((HUGS)))))))Good luck on your search.

hi there i'm still pre-op but have given thought to plastic surgery (alot) and have decided to get it if i need it, so i'm saving now to be ready for it. i am concerned about the excess skin, i am doing this for my health but the second reason i am doing this is to feel good about myself image.
Please keep us posted about your plastic surgery journney, very interested in how it goes and all the little things that you deal with and feel on the way,.
Are you wanting to have face, arms, breasts, tummy and legs done? Or do you find you just need it in one place in more than others. i'm hoping not to need it but i will get everything if it's needed. Hope to see you in chat someday

I know this is one of the complications all of you dread, but the one thing that you can have insurance cover the plastics, or at least part of it, are hernias. If you get hernias that are bad enough to neccessitate surgery, insurance usually covers the TT that goes with it. So, bad as hernias are, sometimes it can be of use.

Hi Donna welcome to the site. I'm going under the plastics knife 1 week today! I'm getting abdominoplasty to remove excess skin from my stomach, and brachioplasty to remove the excess skin from my upper arms. My surgeon has said surgery will take about 7 hours if everything goes well. Starting to get really nervous!!!! As I lost my weight without WLS I've never had any surgery before so this is pretty daunting, but incredibly exciting at the same time. I can't wait to be able to put my jeans on without having to tuck it all in. As I'm in New Zealand and we have a free health system most people don't have health insurance, and this kind of surgery is not done in the public health system I am having to pay myself, and yes its a lot of money but less than what I'd spend on a new car, and I drive my body 24/7. Good luck, if I'm feeling brave I might post before and afters to share the results.
Heidi
