| HI!!!! Two weeks Post Op
My name is Angie and I had the surgery on 9/25/07. I went for my post op appt last Wednesday, 8 days after my surgery, and I was down 20lbs! I was sooooo excited. I still cannot believe I dropped that much, that quick. My doctor has me on Stage 4 already and going to Stage 5 this Wednesday. I've read so many places that it is better to stay on liquid foods for at least 21 days to help the healing process of my new pouch. Has anyone else started eating real foods this early? My biggest problem right now is that I'm eating too fast. I'm trying to slow it down, but after years of inhaling my food, it's alot to get used to.
Nice to meet all of you! You all look Marvelous, darling!

Hi
congraduations on the weight loss. I was three days out of my surgery and they had me on the hospitol puree trays. On the 6th day I could not handle the puree trays anymore. So I ate tuna, cottage cheese and scrambled egg and I had protein pudding. The protein pudding has 20 proteins and only two carbs per can. I could only eat 1/3 of the can at the begginning and now I can eat a 1/2 can at one sitting. To make the puddings more special I got a container of carb and sugar free whipped cream. I just spray some on top and that is soooo good tasting. I also do the protein drinks that I got from one of the sites. I have a vareity of protein drinks, becasue I need change in taste. I have strawberry, bananna drink and I love mint so I got me a chocolate mint drink and I also have chocolate peanut butter drink and I also have vanilla and I use the sugar free flavorings that I put into the vanilla to change my tastes in the vanilla. I have 8 different kinds of sugar free flavorings. I also use the flavorings for cooking. They are really good in the low carb cookies that I am going to make in just two weeks. The doctor told me to wait till I am on my seventh week to make the cookies & protein bars out of almond flour and a few other ingredients. I tried them before my sugery and they are sooo good.
You keep up the good work.

Each doctor is different (my doctor was pretty agressive...I was on full liquids before leaving the hospital!) Just take it slow, as you never know what will upset the pouch (which NOW has a mind of it's own!)
SIP SIP SIP your water, and get plenty of this EVERY DAY...make sure you get the vitamins and protein, and you should be in good shape. Start new foods/textures slowly!

Welcome Angie! Glad to have you on "board"! It is very exciting and congrats on your weight loss. I actually moved from liquids to some (light) solid foods about eight days after my surgery. I just couldn't stand liquid only anymore. If your doctor feels its okay, then try something simple -- like mashed potatos or really soft fish. They're both good and the fish is high in protein. As for eating fast - yep, I have that problem too -- just did it again today and got another case of the foamies. We've both got to learn to slow down! Good luck!

Congrats!! Welcome to the board. The only thing that I can suggest is to definately get slower at eating once you are at the full food diet. It wont hit you until well after. And then it is too late. Good Luck!!

Hi I am three weeks out today. I was on clear liquids for 3 days, then on to full liquids for two weeks, now I am on pureed foods for 3 to 6 weeks depending on how I handle things, then I go to soft foods slowly. I know every doctor is different but I am happy to take it slow I don't want any complications. Hang in there .
