Hey guys I know I haven't been on in months. I got kinda depressed and discouraged after I was denied. My insurance denied me back in April because even though I meet the minimum weight requirement I didn't have any "co-morbidities". And I was like why do I have to be on my death bed to try and get healthy. I had tried a MILLION and ONE diet plans. None of which worked. My doctor felt because of my family health history it was an excellent option but you know insurances really don't care about that. So I kinda gave up. Well, this year has literally been hell for me. I had wrist surgery in June to repair my TFCC and it went ok. As soon as I healed enough to get my cast off I started having other problems. I was having serious pain in my right upper back and I just assumed it was another kidney stone because I have gotten 5 different sets of kidney stones already. So I drank tons of water nope didn't get better and then I started getting horrible pains right under my right rib in the front so I was like ok I need to see a doctor. So they sent me to the ER naturally and they were like well you don't have gallstones but you have sludge or whatever and suggested I see a surgeon to get my gallbladder taken out. So I go see a surgeon the next week and he is like well, I am not sure you need it taken out just for sludge and I'm like ok well I am in a TON of pain so you better figure something out. So for the next 2 weeks I was sent for a crap load of different tests to finally conclude in the 3rd week that he was going to take it out after all. And I'm like ok why didn't we do this 3 weeks ago...but whatever. So they finally take my gallbladder out last month. And I went on the Tricare website just surfing to find out if I was diagnosed with chronic cystitis *spelling* then I qualified for the gastric bypass...but since I had it removed of course my problem is solved. So now I'm upset because I was like if I could have dealt with the pain for a bit longer I could have gotten the gastric bypass... oh well. I guess everything happens for a reason. Well, last week I finally got my sleep study results to find that I have moderate-severe sleep apnea and I am now on a CPAP because of it. Which is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever used in my life. I can't even keep it on the whole night yet. So yay I know have a "co-morbidity" and I called my potential bariactic surgeon so they can resubmit my paperwork to be approved. I am seriously hoping this goes through because I can't keep living like this. My health is getting worse staying like this. Anyways it's nice to be back please pray for me.

I am sorry that you have had to go through all this. I am surprised that Tricare is giving you so much trouble. I have Tricare too. The standard here is 40 BMI and up, you don't have to have any comorbidities and 35-39 you have to have at least one. From start to finish it took less than a month for me to be approved. I would try to switch doctors. I know different Tricare regions do things differently. Good luck and hang in there. Shannon |

Thank you everyone for your replies. I hate how all the regions are different with Tricare. You know what's funny is I am originally from Oklahoma and was stationed there til last year when we got orders up here to Fairchild, WA. Everyone before this had pretty easy times with getting approved but for some reason this year the standards have changed. In ordered for you to be approved on weight alone I have to be 200% body weight so over 300 lbs. And honestly I don't want to get there that is why I want to get control of it now. Sometimes I feel a little guilty because I know to some people I am not that over weight. And when I went to the seminar earlier this year I felt bad because I was the SMALLEST one in the room. So I don't want people to think this is a cop out and that I am just not trying to lose it. But, then maybe I am just worrying to much about how others think of me as usual. When I get this surgery I am not sure how many people I am going to tell. I mean yes my family of course because they are the people that matter to me. I mean people other than my closest friends. My husband is a personal trainer in the Air Force and works at the gym here so every time I see him at work, I feel like the others are judging me because I am so overweight and my husband is the perfect athlete. And you know some of those people up there do judge me but I am pretty good at putting up a front and pretending I don't notice. My husband says not to think like that. And if he ever heard anyone say one word about me he would put them in their place real quick and I know he would. I dunno blah enough of this paranoid crap. My husband is a God Send for real. He loves me the way I am and always has and always will. I know he only has eyes for me and he has never been the jealous kind even when I was way smaller. He just says he wants me to be healthy and happy and that is all that matters. But I want to be more for him. I want to be more for myself. I just pray and have faith and hope this time around will go better. God has a plan and I have to constantly remind myself of that. Sorry for the book it's nice to have someone that understands.

Wow! I could have written your post. I have a lot of support about my decision to have surgery, but in the same breath some question if I am really overweight enough.(Can you believe it?) Anyway, I have gotten to the point that I tell them that I am 110 lbs over what I am supposed to weigh, which by the way according to the doctor's charts, I supposed to weigh 105. So, I am at 200%. Yes, you guessed it, I am really short. I can't continue slowly gaining more weight. My body has started breaking down and I can barely keep up with my two year old twins. I want to be able to keep up with DH. Heck, I would love to sleep all night and sleep soundly. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I completely understand and if you ever need to talk or vent about anything, you can always email me. |
