Default Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

I saw the Hepatologist on Tuesday.
The good news is: this doctor is smart, well spoken and takes the time to really go over stuff. The bad news is: I really do have Primary Biliary Cirrhosis.

While I'm disappointed at the answer, I was so hoping for a different one, I relieved to finally have an answer. We are treating me conservatively by just watching my liver enzymes, via blood tests, for now. When they stop trending down on their own (the enzymes) I'll have to begin medication.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I'm really glad you asked this...my surgeon makes it a common practice to do a liver biopsy during surgery. I always kinda wondered why. Now, they have found the problem and you can start the treatment!

PBC isn't related to obesity or weight loss surgery. It's just coincidental if anyone is diagnosed for it.
However, obesity is related to fatty liver, which, if severe, can lead to cirrhosis, so if you have signs of liver dysfunction (if your liver enzyme levels are a tad high) you could talk it over with your surgeon and see what he says.

I have the "fatty liver" they can detect it with blood work and also with a sonogram. They are checking mine with blood work now and recheck it every 2 months. They will do another sonogram in January to see how it is doing.

Lady Hawk is right. They can detect it with lab work and ultrasounds. I to have a what they call a fatty liver. They check mine every 3 months with lab test

Yes, fatty liver is diagnosed by sonography, or rather, concluded from the lab results and sonography. The visual from lap is conclusive.
However, for PBC to be diagnosed conclusively, you need a liver biopsy.
