Ok honey let me see if i can help a tiny bit. You getting a referral for when you did was acutally fast. Feel blessed you got it this month. I hope that is enough for your insurance. Ashely on this board can help you with that insurance more than anyone. I know she did as they asked and was approved. I will ask you to call your insurance company your self and ask 1. Do you pay for WLS. 2. What are ALL the requirments. Once you get there anwswers you will know where you stand. Good luck and lets us know. Welcome to the boards ! |

I would like to welcome you! I dont have the same healthcare so cant help you there, but it sounds like they are getting around to seeing you pretty quick, my journey started in April of 2007 and my surgery was in August 2007.

United is not the easiest to work with. They turned me downed 4 times but I kept going at them. The insurance cooridinator for my surgeons group said they had never had anyone approved with United after being rejected. The key is to read the policy very carefully. I had to collect Dr's notes for 5 years to show that I had a BMI of at least 40 that entire time. Regardless of medical issues they wouldn't even consider them, all that mattered was the 5 year BMI. If I had to do it over again, I would submit the 5 years of records with the 1st submittal. They finally hung themselves when they came back and said although I met the criteria, the would not approve the gastric sleeve surgery. At that point we had them, we went back for approval of the bypass and they had no choice but to approve. My advice - keep all records of everything you send to them, every person you talk to and every fax confirmation. STay on them until they say yes. That's what I did and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!!!!

If Anyone No Any Other Website That Can Help Answer Insurance Questions Please Past It On.... Also... Has Anyone Had To Pay Up Front Fees For Joining The Weight Loss Program..because I Was Asked To Pay $550 Program Fee Upfront With Out Knowing If I Am Approved..(no Refund) There R Other Weightloss Centers That Don't Require A Fee. But They Have Not Done As Many Laps Rny As The Doctor I Was Reffered To... |

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. May your journey go well ((((HUGS))))) There's an entire forum devoted to insurance in Gastric Bypass Pre Op Issues, so if you look around there, you may find some pointers.

I had to pay a $250.00 "Admin fee" just to prove that I was really interested in following through. Of course that didnt go to the insurance company, so it was out of my pocket.
