I went in for my consult today with my Surgeon. He spent almost 2 hours with me going over almost every detail of the surgery. I was given all the pros and all the cons. I left his office with a sense of relief. While he was talking I felt a weight lift off of my shoulders. I made my decision right then and there that this is what I want and I will do what I have to do to make it happen. I can tell you, I have never been so sure of something. I know that I have to do this and I know that I will succeed. I have spent the last 2 years researching this surgery so I went to his office with about 100 questions. He took the time to answer every single one of them! I feel very confident in his hands. If everything works out ok, I should have a date by the beginning of next year!!

i was the same way when I went to my first doctors appointment. i researched it for a long time myself before I finally made my doctor appointment. in fact, i cancelled my first appointment because I felt like such a failure and thought I could do it on my own (like i haven't ever tried that before, LOL, who was I kidding). (which was this time last year). i went back on phentermine, lost weight, quit then gained it all back and more. i finally decided this june to just do it. well, i'm 3 weeks 3 days post op and I feel great! hopefully, you have good insurance and they approve you right away. it's so important to have a good doctor. i loved mine. i felt like i was his only patient. he made me feel so comfortable. good luck to you! i was about your weight when I first met with my dietician and bariatric nurse. she said not to lose any more weight before I met with the doc, since I was on the borderline of insurance approval. I ended up gaining another 5 pounds before i met with the doc. i was 1 point under BMI for my insurance to accept me when I met the nurse. if i didn't gain those 5 silly pounds i would have been denied. do you believe that! i can gain 5 in a heart beat, losing 5 takes forever. but not anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do have really good insurance. A lot of insurance companies require their patients to follow a diet monitored closely by their Dr. Mine doesn't. I went through this process back in 2005. I met with a surgeon (did not like him at all), I went to support group meetings, and I met with the dietician. Then my husband got transferred, he is in the military. I'm just so glad that I am finally at a place in my life where I feel comfortable making this decision. Congrats on the weight you have lost so far.....keep on losing!
