Lots of thoughts. Ive started exercising a little more seriously. Don't HAVE to do the liquids, but I might do it anyways, just to shrink my liver and make it easier for the surgeon (and me). I have thoughts about not waking up and leaving my family. Even though our program has a zero mortality rate here in florida. I think about getting hernias or having to go back in after the barium swallow. Has anyone NEVER thrown up. What is the best advice to not throw up, I HATE throwing up, I can't stop. Also, how much time has everyone taken off work for the laparoscopic RNY? I am hopefully only taking two weeks. I have to stay in the hospital two days, how long did everyone have to take pain pills. I can't wait to see people that haven't seen my in awhile and watch the comments from my bosses clients and friends as I shrink.
Any thoughts you have are welcome, I am a sponge.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Everyone is different. I had laproscopic RNY and was released from the hospital the next day. I was on pain pills for the 1st couple of weeks and then took just as needed. I had the time saved up so I stayed out of work a full 4 weeks.

I think we all realize the seriousness of the surgery before hand and have the same thoughts you are having. I have thrown up since the surgery, but only a few times. Usually because I took one bite to much or didn't chew my food up as well as I should have. I hate throwing up to.

Hey - where are you? I had my surgery at TGH - was in hospital ~3 days. I had a good bit of discomfort so I was out of work 5 weeks and took pain meds most of that time - I really think a lot of it was gas from the lap procedure -- walking is a blessing! A lot of people feel great after surgery and go back to work in short order - just remember this is a major surgery even though you only have the 1" scars here and there it will take a while to recover - dont rush it - take care of you! Best wishes! (Yes, the pre-op jitters may be the worst part of the procedure!) I have thrown up ~4-5 times -- if you need to, it's a blessing and, hey, I'm a quick learner now!!

Keep your eyes on the prize. I didn't have to go on any sort of special diet up until 2 days before. In hind site, by way of reading so many other peoples posts it would have probably been good for me to have. I was at 365# and I was sore for quite some time.I think had I allowed myself to shrink a little the Dr. would have had a little more room for the lap RNY. I had an enlarged liver like you. Good luck & keep us posted.

I was in the hospital for 2 days and then was out work for a month. But I have heard thru the grapvine that my surgeon now does 2 weeks or by a case to case basis. I felt fine after like 3 days and moved slowly and most of it was in my head. Everyone is different and you have to see how you do. Best of luck.

I am 20 days away from surgery and at this point I have worked out a lot of my jitters and now I am getting excited. I can not wait to tie my shoes without feeling like I am going to die from not breathing during the process.
I too do not have to do any special diet until 2 days previous but I am also considering doing the liquid diet. I think I will start a new post asking about the liquid diet and suggestions

I'm in Sarasota, getting it done at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Yes, I know it's major for sure.

HEY dolphinlover! I love dolphins too and dream to go to one of those places
one day to swim free with them!!!!!!

any as for surgery i had my surgery on a wed am and was discharged mid day saturday. I returned to work in 12 days against my surgeons request of a full two weeks but i felt grand. I weaned myself off the pain meds after 24 hours being home because i hated takeing crushed pills they just made me gag!

I had no complications of course if one has them you would be out of work longer and thats the risk we all take. BUT to me any of the risks of this surgery
was far better then the risks of a heart attack or stroke for me.

Unofortunately for me i feel like QUeen OF puke POST OP. but ITS ME AND IT DONT bother me to toss up, if i dont feel right i will end the suffereing by bringing it up and throwing up its no biggie to do. I guess im stupid because there are foods that i know will cause me to throw up but i do the again and again......so i blame myself for my puken at times. OF course its far and few
now that im further out but happens.
WITH all this said
still the best thing i did for myself
to obtain good health again!
