Default Update

I returned home today from Victoria. Tonight was the first night I sat with the kids and hubby during diner. While they dined on the loaded Shepard's Pie w/ Cheese crisps I made them for dinner, I ate my 2 tbsp of mashed potatoes (mashed with broth) and a SF FF yogurt. It was really hard, but I made it. I miss food.

Anyways - I weighed myself for the first time since surgery last tuesday. The last time I weighed myself was on Dec 2 and I was 305.5. I waited to weigh myself so I could do so on the same scale and I almost fell over. I weighed 284 - I lost 21 lbs. I am sure some of that is water but HOLY CRAP. It felt AWESOME - makes it all worth it.
I have decided that I am not going to tell family and friends (other than my husband and this group of course) how much weight I loose. I have decided to keep it to myself. I do not want my transformation to be about numbers, but about how much better I look and feel. Do you think that is ok?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

OMG!!!!! That is great. I wish that was me. I am so happy for you. Keep up the good work. I still have lots of fluid to get rid of. They pumped me up with so much fluid I barely could fit my pants coming home.....lol I am very proud of you.

You're doing wonderful!!
And yes, focus on yourself, not the numbers. That's probably the best thing for you.

Yes honey it can be hard but your doing it. The thing is people ask you all the time how much you lost now? This is a start to every conversation to every one that knows i had it done. Its ok. Nothing wrong with not telling them. I always say well its been a couple weeks since I weighed but at that time I was down ___. Everyone around me has been so excited to hear that number.

That is what I am afraid of - "everyone being excited about that number". I have lost and gained weight so many times before in my life and for me it was always about THAT NUMBER. I would sometimes weigh myself more than once a day - it was crazy and I think counterproductive. I understand why the number is of so much interest, because it is tangible, but I want this to be about my health this time. I am only going to weigh myself once a week. The scale can play real emotional tricks on me. I seem to base my success on what number flashes up at me.

AWESOME!!!!! You do what you feel comfortable with! And it will get easier with the wanting food thing. Now you've got a little more motivation, because you see how much you HAVE lost. But yes, from time to time, I miss certain things. And in time, you won't have to "miss" it, you can have a bite here and there. Follow Friendly's 3 bite rule. I know on Thanksgiving, I followed it. I had a bite of cheesecake, a bite of apple pie, and a bite of a gooey butter cookie But it took away the desire for it. Everything gets a little easier in time.

I agree, it's not about numbers (well for me it is BP #s and Chol #s..) anyway its nobody's business but your own so just come up with your set answer and eventually the people you see the most will just accept it. I sorta feel like Vicki, and my DH tells everything he knows to everyone he works with, etc - they actually want me to come into the office so they can see me - AACK!!! - I dont think so..... anyway, I get the same thing all the time too. It may just be part of how this all goes! Glad your home and feeling pretty well, the food thing def gets better!
