Default New here..surgery is 3 days away!

Hi everyone! So nice to read about/meet all of you! I've been inspired by many of your stories.

I'm scheduled for surgery this coming Wednesday, 1/16/08. I'm pretty excited... and a little bit scared! Mostly about the pain and of course, that everything will go well.

Like many of the people here, I've struggled with weight my whole life. I'm 46 yrs old, I have two sons, a 19 yr old that has Down syndrome and an 11 yr old. My husband (and their dad) died suddenly 2 years ago. Since then, I guess it has hit me harder that I need to live long and live healthy for myself and for my boys. I feel more hopeful about the future right now than I have in years.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and am sure I'll be checking in often and relying on the wisdoms here in the weeks and months to come.

Kendra

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Best Wishes Kendra, I look forward to reading of your upcoming journey post-op.
Dont forget to take a 'before' pic (if you want to) so you will be able to see the road you have travelled much clearer.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and warm welcomes!!

In the last couple of days, I've heard so many opinions about this surgery from people that I've told. It's amazing really.... how people offer their opinions so freely and give advice (whether it's requested or not). I know in my own mind that I'm doing a healthy thing for myself and I feel confident about my decision, but it's a little unnerving. I tend to think that a lot of opinions are based on old information.... how have you all dealt with peoples biases?
