Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass |  Newbie Hi My name is Sarah. I am 38, been married to the same man since I was 17, that is 21 long years! I have two beautiful kids, a daughter 20, who just made me a grandma on December 3rd 2007, and a son 18 who graduates from high school this year. I have six dogs! Yes they are all indoor dogs and we love them like they were our kids! I have been over weight my entire life. I am a stress eater and unfortunately am always under stress. (aren't we all though) I had the stomach staple procedure done in 97 and it was sucessful until i went back to eating regular food. I had no support or really knowledge for after the surgery. They gave me a hand out and said to eat regular food after 6 weeks. I went from a size 20 to an 8. I really dont know how much I weighed after the surgery. I know I was 236 before. The slastic? ring they put in has given me nothing but problems ever since I had it and it has now corroded into my stomach. I want they weight off yes but mainly I want that ring out. So insurance finally decided to pay for the surgery. THIS TIME I am determined to do this right and for good. I have started counseling and going to the support groups and finding sites like this one. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and being sucessful on this journey to change my life.

By stapling, do you mean you had vertical banded gastroplasty? 10 years ago, open Roux en Y bypass was the most popular, lap surgery was starting to gain popularity, and as far as I know vertical banded gastroplasty was a more popular procedure than now. ((((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thanks for the welcome! Yes it was the vertical banded gastroplasty. I was hospitalized several times that first 18 months after I had it done and off and on for years now. The Dr refused to give me my medical records and the hospital I had it at went defunct. It took me a long time to find a Dr willing to help me without medical records. I have a toy poodle, a min-pin, a weenie dog, a shiz zhu?, a jack russell terrier, and a mutt, i dont really know what kind she is but we love her.
