Weight Loss Method Sleeve Gastrectomy |  Hi everyone, my name is Jackie
I joined this board about a year ago when I thought I was going to have surgery last summer. My insurance squashed all dreams of that, but then my luck changed and now I am going cash pay. My surgery is scheduled for 2-22-08 and I am having a Sleeve Gastrectomy. My surgeon tells me that i will have the same weight loss as a RNY, but i will not have the malabsorption problems. I have not been overweight all of my life, but I tend to gain very easily. In high school I was 5'4" and 130, not to bad, but not thin either. Over the years I fluctuated between 118 and 150, but very seldom was consistent. I hit menapause at an early age of 39 and rapidly gained weight. I have lost weight many times and just gained it back plus some. Before I new it, I was 280.  After turning 50 I started to develop all of the co-morbidities, lucky me  .Now, I am weeks away from the 1st day of my new life. I have read your posts for a long time here and I know I have a place to come to vent, ask questions, or just get a good pat on the back. Good luck to you all
