Hello to all, Had the drain and staples removed yesterday. Then my wife took me for a well needed hair cut. I feel much better. I still have some pressure, but the doc said its to be expected. I have been off the pain med for the most part. The Doc said to take some before coming in yesterday, the my wife gave some last night to help me sleep. I was back in bed instead of the recliner and was in some discomfort. Other than that I havent needed the pain meds. I also went by my office yesterday and saw some of my guys. I am the Solid Waste Superintendent for a large county in Ga. It helped to go and look in my mail box and let the guys know I am still alive. I never made it to my office becase its up-stairs and wasnt that brave to tackle the stairs,So I stayed in the dispatch office and spoke to my assistant to get the low down on things. The doc said no driving for another week. I had my Father-n-Law run me to the drug store for Nystatin.Thats for the white crap on my tounge. The Doc says the meds they gave me after surgery killed the good bugs on my tounge and basicly caused a yeast infection in my mouth. So I had two bottles by IV at the hospital but did not help. I am gona try and plan some things for the weekend to keep my mind busy. It will be hard because my wife wants to go to her parents house and to our church for a 4th of July picinic. Kinda hard to show interest when you cant eat. I sure miss eatting. See ya all soon, Andrew |

Good to hear your drains are all out, but oops, you've gotten thrush. Be sure to take all the supplements--vitamins and such--that your dr tells you to. Don't let the idea of "missing eating" mess with your head. I guess you'd still be on liquids, or pureed at most, but keep in mind, you will be eating food that will be good for your body, not bad. You are going to have to learn to make the correct food choices, both in type and portion, because that is what will carry you through your weightloss journey, once your honeymoon is over. Do not be worried that you can't eat, try to enjoy all the other festivities like parades and fireworks. Let me ask, before, were you able to observe and enjoy fully the fun that was going on around you, instead of looking around to see what else there was to eat? Try to learn to focus on the events and people around you, not food. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Andrew. I can feel your anxiety as far as being around festivities that involve food. For the fourth of July we had a bbq with neighbors and bless the sweet man that he is, my neighbor kept trying the whole night to offer me more sweets and foods and beverages. I felt badly, but he knows that I had the surgery and I am hoping that he doesn't feel offended by my refusing his attempts at hospitality. I do find that I observe more about people now that I make it a goal to take my focus off of the food. I did indulge in a few of my faves...Doritos. That was a great reward for me. Janae |
